Leroy M. T. Pope was born about 1822 in Bledsoe County, TN. He was the son of Jonathan Pope and Deliah Coulter both of North Carolina. Pope fought in the War with Mexico as 1st Lt., 2nd Texas Mounted Volunteers. Pope was among the first of the group of new immigrants to the Cibolo in the new state of Texas who saw a future in ranching rather than operating a plantation.

Post Office

Steven Thorne Cook was born in South Carolina in 1833. He and his older brother, William James (1827-1898), came to Texas in the 1850s. William settled in the Pleasanton area, while Stephen chose to settle in Lodi on the San Antonio River.

Paul Prudlo was born in Poland in 1831. He came to Texas about 1857, settling first in eastern Bexar County in the Martinez (St. Hedwig) community. He was a lawyer, and a wheelwright.

Olive BranchesRobert James (R. J.) Lennix was born in Alabama in January of 1822. He was the brother of Lucinda Lennix Walters. R.J. Lennix married Mary Walters on September 10, 1843 in Nacogdoches, TX. Mary died before 1846. Mary’s parents are unknown.
